Black Tempura with Colorful India Ink
Students adjusted the threshold of a photo in Photoshop, making it pure black and white. Then they drew the image on a large scale, painted the black areas using black tempura, and filled in the white areas with colored India Ink as they chose. Here are some of the results:

Stop Motion Animation Films
Stop motion (also known as stop action or frame-by-frame) is an animation technique to make a physically manipulated object appear to move on its own. The object is moved in small increment and photographed. The photographs are played as a series of frames in a continuous sequence. Think of the concept of a flip book.
Computer Arts Students created their own stop motion animations using Adobe Photoshop and Windows Movie Maker. They were required to make at least 100 photos. Check out the results (you will need Windows Media Player to view these .wmv files):

Jack-o-lanterns
Seward High Ceramic students carved pumpkins last week with great results. They created 3 values by either leaving pumpkin (dark areas), scooping out some areas with lino cutting tools (medium areas) and cutting out some areas (lightest areas), Here they are!
